Announcing the Back-to-School Advocacy Campaign

(10/02/2009)

While summer has been an exciting and busy time for health care advocates, September and October present a perfect time to engage your members of Congress on education-specific policy priorities. Over the next couple of weeks, you will be receiving action alert e-mails from ASHA asking for your support on education issues that impact the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology.

The Back-to-School Advocacy Campaign is intended for all ASHA members in all settings. Showing your support is easy. By following the link provided in the action alert e-mail you can quickly send a message to your U.S. Senators and U.S. Representative asking for their support on legislation impacting the professions.

The alerts will focus on legislation concerning:

  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Funding
  • Classroom Noise and Construction
  • Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Act
  • Parents Right to Know Improvement Act

Participating in e-advocacy through responding to action alerts on issues related to the professions is quick, easy, and makes an impression on your members of Congress. Please take a couple of minutes to make a difference. Should you have any questions, please contact Neil Snyder, ASHA's Director of Federal Advocacy, at nsnyder@asha.org or 202-624-7750.
